Scotland. Testoon 1561 with "Unique" Silver Medal of Mary. Mary Queen of Scots, 1542-67. Testoon 1561, Spink-5422. The obverse somewhat porous and granular, still Very Fine with a fine portrait of the Queen, the reverse strong Very Fine or better and sharply struck. Also an undated and unsigned uniface octagonal silver medal of Mary, 28mm x 36mm with a curled wire loop for wearing, portraying a facing collared bust, this toned VF-EF. Both pieces in a custom fitted, velvet lined book style case of green leather decorated overall with gilt fleur-de-lis, this 4.5" x 3.5", and accompanied by an old British dealer's ticket stating the medal was unique and from the collection of Sir Ian Malcolm of Poltallock Argyll, which was sold March 1, 1946 through a small London auction firm, with the ticket written by Pat Seaby. An extremely rare and lovely presentation.
